Village of Peace
In 2010 we acquired a 2.6-acre site in Kinyinya, a ten-minute drive from Kigali, Rwanda to provide an integrated and permanent campus for Esther’s Aid. Shortly thereafter Alan and Cindy Toppen, with their team of volunteer architects from Engineering Ministry International came to Rwanda and created the Master Plan for the campus. We broke ground on the foundation in 2012 and we plan to launch a capital campaign to fund the building of the Village of Peace. The project will include 12 classrooms, a culinary kitchen, restaurant, bakery, 3 dormitories, cafeteria, library, computer lab, a sewing design/accessories studio, and a farm. It will also provide three student dormitories, guest residences, a clinic/health center, sport facilities, an exhibition room, a multi-purpose hall, an auditorium, administrative offices, conference room, storage facility, and parking.
The campus will generate growing income to sustain our programs. Revenue from product sales such as jewelry, fine arts, and baked goods, as well as event catering, and hall/auditorium rentals will provide sustainable income to support our skills development and training programs. It will also enable us to expand our services to more disadvantaged groups in the community.
