Sewing & Accessory Design

The Sewing, Fashion and Accessory Design program is an economic reintegration project, an initiative by Esther's Aid to help vulnerable girls take back control of their lives with confidence and dignity.  Students learn the art of design and production of personal accessories, including bags, pouches, scarves as well as home and kitchen accessories. They learn entrepreneurship and marketable skills that enable them to become proud self sufficient citizens of their community.

Upon graduation students move on to the fully equipped Empowerment Center which is supervised and monitored by our staff. During this period, the graduates have the opportunity to acquire more experience in the trade by working for ten to twelve months, earning money to purchase their own sewing machines. They sew their school uniforms and graduation gowns as part of their training. A counselor visits twice a month to follow up on students’ work progress. HIV/AIDS information and education are reinforced at counseling sessions.
